Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce plot double swoop for Tottenham players Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso
After spending heavily over the summer to reinforce the squad, Tottenham Hotspur are expected to concentrate on offloading fringe stars on the transfer deadline day.
There have been several departures from White Hart Lane since the end of June. The likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Eric Dier, Ryan Sessegnon, Joe Rodon, Emerson Royal, Tanguy Ndombele and a few more have already left the club in a massive clearout. Manor Solomon was the latest player to leave the club as he joined Championship side Leeds United on a season-long loan to resurrect his career.
Ange Postecoglou wants to move on players who are not part of his plans at the club. On that aspect, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has already dropped an update on two players on the club’s chopping block.
Giovani Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon are on the hunt for new clubs, having been supposedly told by the club that they are free to leave. Both players have garnered interest from plenty of clubs, but a Turkish outfit appears to be showing concrete interest in them.

According to Turkish outlet As Marca, Fenerbahce have tabled a joint offer of €15M for Giovani Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon. New Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho wants to reunite with the Tottenham outcasts in Istanbul.
Fenerbahce are keen to back Jose Mourinho in the transfer market after appointing him as their new manager earlier this summer. Last summer, Fenerbahce signed Davinson Sanchez on a permanent deal from Spurs, while acquiring Ndombele on loan. This indicates the Istanbul-based club have a strong relationship with the Lilywhites.
Lo Celso has failed to live up to the lofty expectations of the Spurs faithful since joining in a £55m million deal from Real Betis in 2019. Having not performed as per the standards, he has been farmed out on loan by the north London club a couple of times. Now that the Argentinean has entered the final year of his deal (Transfermarkt), Tottenham want to get rid of him permanently amid interest from Real Betis, West Ham and Aston Villa.
Just like Lo Celso, Reguilon is also into the final 12 months of his contract (Transfermarkt) at N17. The emergence of Destiny Udogie last season, coupled with sufficient back-up in Ben Davies and Djed Spence, means the Spaniard is surplus to requirements for Big Ange’s side.
Fenerbahce, apparently after receiving the greenlight from Mourinho, have tabled a joint offer for Lo Celso and Reguilon. Whether Spurs will consider that enough for the duo remains to be seen. The transfer window in Turkey is open until September 13, which gives Fenerbahce more time to thrash out a double deal.
