Ange Postecoglou gives update on Tottenham summer signing’s ‘significant’ injury suffered vs Coventry City

published :

Tottenham Hotspur have had their fair share of injury concerns at the start of the season, and the North Londoners have added to the woes as Wilson Odobert pulled out with a hamstring problem in the club’s game against Coventry City on Wednesday.

The Lilywhites were staring at another defeat after Coventry took the lead and managed to hold on to it till fairly late until Djed Spence came to the rescue in the 88th minute, scoring the equalizer. Brennan Johnson scored the winner only four minutes later to ensure that Spurs don’t suffer an early silverware setback.

Injury setback for Tottenham’s Odobert

However, while Spurs came out with a scrambling win, they did suffer an injury blow that can make an impact in their further games. Summer signing Wilson Odobert had to be taken off in the first half because of a hamstring issue after he sprinted to recover a lost ball, per journalist Alasdair Gold.

What did Ange say?

And Lilywhites head coach has described the injury as a fairly significant one in his post-game presser. Speaking via. The Athletic, the Australian boss said:

“Hard to say. Wilson looks fairly significant, so we’ll just wait and see.”

Odobert signed for Tottenham in the summer transfer window as a Nico Williams alternative, and while most of the Spurs faithful hadn’t heard about him when he made the move, the French winger is something different than what the North Londoners possess in the current roster. And that will be a big absence for Ange Postecoglou going into the next few weeks with the Tottenham player every three days for a while now.

If the injury is as significant as it appears, we should expect Odobert to be on the sidelines for a while.
