Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero has been subject to links with a move away from White Hart Lane, with Spanish giants Real Madrid interested in landing the Argentine international.
Romero has become an integral part of the squad at Hotspur Way, as his partnership with Micky van de Ven in the heart of defence is regarded as one of the best in the English top tier. And his position as vice captain also shows how he is highly perceived in the dressing room at Hotspur Way.
Los Blancos interest comes as a concern for the Lilywhites, as they may lose one of the better players on Ange’s roster.
King slams Argentine media for Romero rumors
Recently, there were reports in the Argentine media that the player has a £54 million release. It created a moment of panic on social media for Spurs supporters and beyond until transfer guru Fabrizio Romano had to get involved and deny such aforementioned claims.
And citing those claims, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King has slated Argentine media in their attempt to ‘stir things up.’ While the claims may be agent-driven, Romero has been underwhelming in the ongoing campaign, and that is something he needs to sort out before any future talks.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, King said:
“I’m not surprised with anything that goes in the press these days. Agents are feeding newspapers lines which are never being checked out properly. That is a problem, because they then become rumours, stories to fill papers.
“It is rubbish, just the Argentinian press trying to stir things up, thinking nobody will read the stories back in England. However, someone will always pick it up.
“It seems as though all of Spurs’ defenders have been linked with moves away at one point or another. They need to think of the club they’re playing for, Tottenham are a top club with a magnificent stadium.
“For now, Romero needs to knuckle down. Looking at his displays recently, nobody would be interested in buying him anyway.”
Tottenham would be hoping to build their defence around £165,000 per week defender in the upcoming years, and they would be cautious of any approach by Real Madrid or any other European elites.
