Tottenham Hotspur are enduring one of their most difficult campaigns in recent memory under Ange Postecoglou. Monday night’s defeat marked their 18th loss in the Premier League this season, and with just a handful of games remaining, there’s a genuine risk that Spurs could finish just a place above the relegation zone. A cloud of uncertainty and frustration continues to hang over N17, as both results and performances fail to improve.

This has been a season of “what ifs” for the North London side. A string of injuries to key players has derailed their momentum and disrupted any semblance of consistency. Yet, despite the domestic turmoil, Spurs still have a glimmer of hope. Their run to the Europa League semi-finals offers a real chance to salvage the season, and, potentially, end their long-standing trophy drought.

Amidst all the disappointing results in domestic competitions, the Lilywhites can see the light at the end of the tunnel and have a chance to salvage something out of this season. Winning the Europa League would also mean that Tottenham will play Champions League football next season.

Tottenham consider Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is already exploring managerial replacements ahead of what promises to be a transformative summer at N17. With it all but certain that Ange Postecoglou will depart at the end of the season, regardless of how the Europa League campaign concludes, the focus has shifted to finding the right figure to lead a much-needed rebuild.

According to GIVEMESPORT, Spurs are eyeing Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso as a potential candidate. The Spanish tactician has enjoyed a meteoric rise in Germany, guiding Leverkusen to a historic unbeaten season in the Bundesliga. However, securing Alonso’s services may prove difficult, with reports suggesting that the former midfield maestro would only leave Leverkusen to manage Real Madrid—his dream job. Nonetheless, Tottenham remain hopeful of making a compelling case should Alonso become available.

The former Liverpool player does not want to move to England at this stage of his managerial career. Alonso also intends to stay in Germany if Real Madrid decide to keep Carlo Ancelotti at the club. The Lilywhites know this is a long shot at best and would be better off considering other managers for the time being.

There are a few other managers on the shortlist as well for Spurs. They have considered luring Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola and Fulham boss Marco Silva in recent weeks. But Daniel Levy has hit a roadblock in negotiations with both managers, and it looks like the Lilywhites will have to shift their focus somewhere else.

Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is also being considered for a grand return to N17. Daniel Levy is keen to bring the Argentine back and believes that the squad is perfectly suited for his style of football. The fans will hope that Levy makes the right decision and reaches a conclusion quickly before the transfer window starts.
