“Make profit on him”- Tottenham could be a ‘stepping stone’ for Dutch midfield star

Tottenham are keen to bring in RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons for next season
There is a lot to uncover at Tottenham following Ange Postecoglou’s departure from the club on Friday. The Lilywhites are in all sorts of trouble right now and there is a clear unrest amongst the fans, just two weeks after the Europa League success. The European silverware was supposed to bring stability into the side following a disastrous domestic campaign, but it has done the exact opposite of that at N17.
Now, the Lilywhites need to find a way to bring in quality players for next season as they look to close the gap on their rivals. Spurs need to bolster the quality of the squad in the summer as they will be playing Champions League football next season. However, the disappointing Premier League campaign has forced Daniel Levy to adopt the ‘sell-to-buy’ policy in the transfer market.

So, the North London club will need to sell some of its underperforming players to bring in new signings. The Lilywhites desperately need a new attacking midfielder for next season as they look to provide competition for James Maddison in the number ten position. Maddison will be able to share the creative burden with the new player next year as Spurs will look to compete on four fronts.
Tottenham are interested in signing RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons
It was reported earlier that Tottenham are interested in signing RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons in the summer. The Lilywhites are long-term admirers of the Dutchman and view him as the ideal player to bolster the quality of the attack next season. The 22-year-old is also keen to move in the summer after the German club failed to qualify for European football next season.
However, John Wenham believes that Simons will use Spurs as a ‘stepping stone’ if he decides to join the North London club in the summer. Speaking to Tottenham News, Wenham said,
“Simmons is a player with high potential. I think he’s delivering to that potential as well, to be fair to him. He has developed well at RB Leipzig and has plenty of experience in the Champions League, while he also represents the Netherlands. I imagine lots of clubs will be in for him.”
The Lilywhites Rose owner added,
“My only worry with Simmons is that he would see a move to Tottenham as a stepping stone to a Real Madrid or Manchester City. However, maybe that isn’t an issue. Maybe Tottenham could sign Simmons, he performs well for a couple of years, and Tottenham make a profit on him.”
John Wenham has suggested that Xavi Simons has great potential and the Dutchman has performed well in big games throughout his career. However, the Lilywhites Rose owner believes that the 22-year-old will use Tottenham as a ‘stepping stone’ before heading to Real Madrid or Manchester City in the future. But Wenham also adds that if the attacker performs well at N17, then the Lilywhites would be able to sell him for a profit in the future.

It remains to be seen where Xavi Simons’ future lies. Daniel Levy must do everything in his power to bring the RB Leipzig star to North London for next season. Bringing in the 22-year-old will elevate the ceiling of the squad massively and help the club compete for a trophy next year.
