Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White is prioritising Tottenham move over renewing contract at City Ground
Tottenham Hotspur have upped their ante regarding transfers in recent days as they look to kickstart a new era under Thomas Frank at N17. The Lilywhites are aiming to build on the Europa League success next season. And the best possible way to do that is by backing the Danish tactician in the summer and bringing in the intended targets quickly.
After a slow start to the summer, the fans were worried that the North London club would fail to lure any players to N17 and miss out on making a statement signing. But the arrival of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham has changed the narrative for the Lilywhites. Not only that, but Daniel Levy also triggered the £60m release clause of Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White earlier last week.

The England international has made a big impact at Forest, helping the club qualify for the UEFA Conference League last season. But bringing the 25-year-old to Spurs may not be as easy as it sounds, as Nottingham Forest have lodged a legal complaint against the Lilywhites for breaching the contractual agreement details by triggering the release clause.
Tottenham will land Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White in the summer
Tottenham have attracted a lot of media attention in recent days as the deal to bring Morgan Gibbs-White to N17 remains uncertain. The England international is keen to head for pastures new in the summer, and signing for Spurs seems to be the main aim for the 25-year-old. It is believed that the legal complaint lodged by Forest is just a delaying tactic as they want the Lilywhites to give up in their chase for the midfielder.
Now, Alasdair Gold has provided an update on the situation as we reach the business-end of the transfer window. Speaking on his own YouTube channel, Gold said,
“I mean, what does Morgan Gibbs-White want to do? Well, certainly from what we understand, he’s been turning down attempts from Forest for a fair few months to talk about a new contract. They want to give him a big new contract, make him one of, if not the top earner at the club with either removal of this release clause or a renegotiation of it. But he has thus far not entertained such talks.”
Alasdair Gold has revealed that Morgan Gibbs-White has turned down a new contract proposal from Nottingham Forest. The reliable journalist adds that the 25-year-old is keen on a summer move, despite Forest attempting to break the bank by offering him a lucrative contract offer. Gold also adds that the England international has no intentions of renewing his deal at City Ground, and wants to move to Spurs.

It is just a matter of time before the Lilywhites seal the deal for the prolific midfielder. He will fit in perfectly at N17 under Thomas Frank. Gibbs-White’s tendency to work hard and fight for possession will instantly make him a fan-favourite at the North London club. He is also effective in the final third of the pitch, and his ability to carry the ball forward will be key for Spurs during transitions.
