Feyenoord winger Igor Paixao has emerged as a target for Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur need to bounce back after what was a dismal Premier League season last time around. Indeed, the Lilywhites recorded their worst-ever Premier League finish in 17th spot.
The Europa League success did salvage the 2024/25 season to some extent. However, improvements are certainly required in the squad to challenge for the top spots in the Premier League next term. With Thomas Frank at the helm, Spurs fans have every reason to be excited going by his track record at former club Brentford. But he requires the tools to make the club competitive in the Premier League again, and so far, Daniel Levy has done well to back him.

After the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, Spurs still appear to be scouring the market for attacking reinforcements. This is because to compete on multiple fronts next season, including the Champions League, Thomas Frank requires a bigger squad. Another attacking player appears to be on the agenda amid Richarlison’s exit links.
Tottenham to battle Leeds United for Igor Paixao
According to a report from TBR Football, Tottenham and Leeds United are interested in signing Feyenoord winger Igor Paixao.
Newly-promoted Leeds United have spoken to the representatives of Igor Paixao, who is also a target of French club Marseille. The Brazilian winger enjoyed a fantastic 2024/25 campaign with Feyenoord, scoring 16 goals and registering 14 assists in 36 league games. He also stood out from his club in the Champions League with two goals and five assists in 11 outings.
Unsurprisingly, the 25-year-old has emerged as a target for the likes of Spurs, Leeds and Marseille.

Igor Paixao suffers muscle injury in training
Unfortunately, Paixao suffered a serious muscular injury during pre-season training on Thursday which might stall any potential transfer. Feyenoord released an official statement confirming this was worse than previously thought, as the winger is going to be out “for several weeks” and will “miss the start of the 2025-26 season.”
This inevitably means the clubs interested in signing the South American are going to reconsider their decision in the wake of this setback. Now any transfer might have to wait, and Tottenham certainly must shift their focus on other targets to strengthen their wide department.
