Tottenham are set to battle it out with Atletico Madrid for the signing of Stuttgart playmaker Enzo Millot
Tottenham Hotspur had a productive July in terms of incomings, signing Kota Takai and Mohammed Kudus from Kawasaki Frontale and West Ham, respectively.
Prior to that, they also bought Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich. Not to forget, the Lilywhites are closing in on the loan signing of Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich. The deal includes an option to make his move permanent for €30 million.
Spurs could have had Morgan Gibbs-White in the bag too, only for Nottingham Forest to block the transfer from happening. This made it quite clear that Thomas Frank wants to add a creative force to his team, irrespective of having the likes of James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski in the current roster.
After a move for Gibbs-White did not materialise, the club chiefs have been working behind the scenes to sign an alternative to fulfil the new boss’ requirements. And it looks like they have set their sights on a player from the Bundesliga.

Tottenham enter race for Stuttgart midfielder
According to Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo, Tottenham have entered the race to sign VfB Stuttgart midfielder Enzo Millot. They are set to battle Atletico Madrid for the player’s signature.
Atletico Madrid have been interested in Enzo Millot, who has a €20 million release clause in his contract that runs until 2028. As the La Liga side do not intend to pay his release clause at one go, they have been renegotiating the player’s payment terms, potentially offering above his €20 million release clause to spread the payment over several instalments.
This has given Spurs the window of opportunity to sneak in. The Europa League winners have “entered the bidding” and appear to be “very serious” about signing the Frenchman, the aforementioned report adds.

Enzo Millot could be viewed as an alternative target to Gibbs-White
Enzo Millot had a strong 2024/25 campaign with Stuttgart, registering 12 goals and eight assists in 43 appearances. A versatile playmaker capable of playing in multiple positions across midfield and attack, the Frenchman could add some much-valued depth to Thomas Frank’s side.
At 23, the Stuttgart star is still quite young, and he could improve further with coaching, guidance and experience, as well as develop into a key player for Tottenham. One advantage Spurs have over Atletico is they have cash in their bank, as evidenced by their quick activation of Gibbs-White’s £60m release clause, although the deal did not happen. So, we can easily trigger Millot’s €20 million release and snatch him under Atletico’s noses.
Due to his combination of versatility, flair, creativity and goalscoring ability, it would not be wrong to view Millot as a strong alternative target to Gibbs-White.
