Tottenham Hotspur took some time to get going in the summer transfer window but once they decided their priorities with new manager Thomas Frank, they moved swiftly to sign West Ham star Mohammed Kudus.
Quick on the heels of securing the Ghanaian, the club proceeded to trigger the release clause of Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White. However, the English club threatened legal action and the move eventually fell through after the player signed a new contract.
While Spurs might not have ended up signing the English attacking-midfielder, it very clearly outlined their ambition to sign a new player for that position. Thus, the excitement remains to see who the North London club go for, as an alternative.
Tottenham have moved past Jacob Ramsey

Recently, in a Twitter chat with transfer insider Paul O’Keefe, he was asked if Tottenham are looking at Harvey Elliott or Jacob Ramsey as an alternative to Gibbs-White. However, he made it clear that Spurs don’t have the Aston Villa youngster in their plans. He said:
“Won’t be Ramsey as far as I’m aware. Decided against apparently”
Ramsey is undoubtedly one of the best young players going around in the Premier League. He has been around for quite some time now at Aston Villa and former manager Steven Gerard even labelled him a “top talent” some time ago.
When he was breaking through at Villa Park, Ramsey was expected to be the next big thing in English football. However, his development in recent seasons has stalled, although he continues to be important to Unai Emery.
Who are Spurs likely to go for?
Ramsey has also played much of his football as a left-midfielder and not necessarily as an attacking midfielder. Morgan Rogers has made that position his very own for Villa and Spurs are right to be looking elsewhere.
While the 24-year-old could have adapted to the #10 role, had Spurs signed him, but Thomas Frank might be having other targets in mind. Although James Maddison is there at the club, his injury history is far from promising.
It seems clear that Tottenham want to add a new midfielder who might predominantly be a #10 but can also play in other positions. Gibbs-White would have been a good addition but let’s see who Daniel Levy & co. sign before the summer window slams shut.
