Juventus line up move for €25m-rated Tottenham midfielder as an alternative to Hjulmand

Date:

Tottenham have a stacked midfield at Thomas Frank’s disposal but to avoid it from becoming a problem of plenty, there is a chance that Spurs look to move on one of the players before the summer transfer window closes.

The current midfield options for Frank who can play as a #6 or an #8 include Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr, Rodrigo Bentancur, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall with Joao Palhinha on his way to join the group.

Among the above names, the most likeliest to leave this summer seems to be Bissouma. The Mali international has had a very mixed time at Tottenham Hotspur so far and his inconsistency could make him the sacrificial lamb this summer.

Juventus line up a move for Yves Bissouma

Now, as per Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport, Italian giants Juventus have lined up a move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Bissouma as a potential alternative to Sporting CP star Morten Hjulmand.

The Danish midfielder seems to be the Old Lady’s priority to reinforce the defensive midfield this summer but with the deal stalling, the club has started lining up potential alternatives that they could target, with the €25m-rated Mali international on the top of the shortlist.

The other player that Juventus have in shortlist is Matt O’Riley from Brighton & Hove Albion. Bissouma would represent a more experienced option for the Turin-based club. Fenerbahce and West Ham are also interested in the spurs midfielder.

What next for the Mali international?

The 28-year-old joined Tottenham from Brighton a few seasons ago. Back during his time at the Seagulls, he was very highly rated and expected to become one of the best midfielders in the league but the development seems to have stalled.

Bissouma had a very good season under Ange Postecoglou during his first season at the club. However, injuries and inconsistency saw him lose his starting spot last season and he could now soon be moving elsewhere to continue his career.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Bissouma. Interest in him is obviously plenty and the next few weeks should provide further clarity on where the Mali International would play his football next season.
