Bayer Leverkusen join the race to sign Tottenham target labelled an ‘animal’

Date:

Tottenham Hotspur have a squad that is well-sorted in most positions. With almost two players for each position, Thomas Frank doesn’t have to worry much about squad depth and not many changes are needed, unless some players leave the club in the coming weeks.

The defensive midfield is a very interesting area of the pitch at Spurs. Frank currently has the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur, Archie Gray, Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr and Joao Palhinha to play in that position and doesn’t necessarily need another option.

However, if one of these players end up leaving this summer, the club could look at a new signing and they have been recently linked with Barcelona midfield star Marc Casado. The Spaniard could be available for a sale.

Bayer Leverkusen want to sign Marc Casado

Now, as per Fichajes, Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen have joined the race to sign Marc Casado from Barcelona. They have quickly emerged as the front-runners with Erik ten Hag keen on adding the Spaniard to his squad.

The 21-year-old La Masia graduate broke through into the first team under Hansi Flick last season. He immediately impressed one and all with his composure on the ball and his ability to act as a play-breaker in midfield.

A typical defensive midfielder, Casado excels at winning the ball back. His awareness often helps him find himself in the perfect position to stop counter-attacks and he has mastered the art of the sliding tackle.

Although he might not look dominating physically, the Spaniard’s big heart more than makes up for it. Should one of the defensive midfielders at Spurs leave, Casado would be a brilliant alternative at the club. He has been labelled an “animal” by Bryan Zaragoza for the way he plays.

Being Spanish, Casado has the quality to play further up in midfield too. His passing is very crisp and he excels at playing through balls from deep and perfectly timed lobbed balls over the top of the defense.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Spaniard. One would still expect him to continue at Barcelona this summer but with Bayer Leverkusen also lurking, it remains to be seen if Spurs make an enquiry for the player in the coming days.
