Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to bring in a creative midfielder in the ongoing summer transfer window, and reportedly they have been looking to reignite their interest in signing Crystal Palace star attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze.
The North Londoners had been looking to bring in a new CAM all summer, but now, given that Thomas Frank recently lost his creative midfielder James Maddison for the majority of the upcoming season, it looks like he would be desperate to land a top-class player to fill in the England international’s shoes.
Andy, according to Fichajes, the Lilywhites are now prepared to “test Palace’s resolve” with an offer in the region of €65 million to sign Eze in the upcoming weeks. While the 27-year-old is on Arsenal’s radar, the Gunners’ pursuit of his signature has stalled as Andrea Berta works on player sales before sanctioning his seventh signing of the summer.
Maddison’s injury turns priority into necessity

The Lilywhites, well before Maddison’s ACL rupture, were hunting for an attacking midfielder as they looked for opportunities to upgrade the former Foxes man, but now that priority has turned into a matter of survival. While Tottenham had some early window success with Mohammed Kudus, Daniel Levy is yet to replace similar aggressiveness in the window.
Eze is someone who is quite capable of gliding past defenders and has that knack of creating spaces with his carries and passes. In the current setup, the Englishman would take up the creative responsibilities of Maddison.
Moreover, Eze also has that ability to operate both centrally and from the left, which gives you another tactical flexibility that Oliver Glasner uses wisely at Palace.
Arsenal threat looms

That being said, Eze is said to be in favour of a move to Arsenal, but given the current delay in their approach, it could give Tottenham an opening.
Given that Mikel Arteta’s side are expected to start fortifying the work to get his signatures, they need to offload players, with Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson linked with an exit, which will help the Gunners put through a €60m package for his signatures.
For Tottenham and Levy to pursue a deal for his signatures, it is to be seen if they can convince Eze to move to N17 over the Reds from North London.
