Tottenham Hotspur do not have long left before the new season begins. In just a couple of days, they are set to kick start their 2025/26 season with the UEFA Super Cup final against PSG.
It gives Thomas Frank his first shot at a trophy at Spurs. Having lifted the Europa League title against Manchester United, Tottenham can now attempt to go on a trophy-streak by beating last season’s Champions League winners and sending a statement.
While the season might be kicking off in the coming days, the transfer window continues to be open until the end of the month. It gives the North London club a chance to make further reinforcements in the coming days and weeks.
Tottenham are keen on signing Paul van Hecke

Now, as per Give Me Sport, Tottenham are keen on signing Brighton & Hove Albion defender Jan Paul van Hecke. Spurs are considering signing him amid Cristian Romero’s uncertain future at the N17.
Graeme Bailey of TBR Football had mentioned that Spurs were among three club circling a potential move for the Dutch international. Van Hecke has a couple of years left on his contract at the Amex and could be available this summer.
Van Hecke was one of the best central defenders in the Premier League last season. The 25-year-old is also wanted by Liverpool, Newcastle United and Bayern Munich and his potential is very obvious considering the interest.
His level is higher than what people think
Former Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi claimed that Van Hecke’s level is “higher than what people think”. He may have emerged as a starlet under the Italian tactician but it was Fabian Hurzeler who truly unlocked a new level in him.
For Tottenham, signing a new central defender might actually not be a bad ploy. Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have had their own share of injury troubles in the past couple of seasons.
Radu Dragusin is still out injured with an ACL injury and that leaves Kevin Danso as the only reliable option. Thus, signing Van Hecke would not just be a cover incase Romero leaves but also adds squad depth.
It remains to be seen how things play out on this front going forward. The next few days or weeks should provide a clearer picture and let’s wait and see if Thomas Frank pushes for the Dutchman’s signature.
