Dane Scarlett can leave Tottenham Hotspur on loan this summer
Despite some significant departures, Tottenham Hotspur have still assembled a very good team for Thomas Frank for the 2025-26 season. The head coach will have very good options to field in all the areas of the team, and there should be no excuses for the North London team not to compete for the big titles this season.
Moreover, Spurs are still looking to further strengthen their team in this late stage of the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, they are also looking for some departures to cut the clutter and make things even easier for Frank.
In this latter regard, one of the players who could be the next to leave the club is the youngster Dane Scarlett. Although he has struggled to breakthrough at Tottenham, the 21-year-old was called up by Thomas Frank for the UEFA Super Cup match against Paris Saint-Germain.
Even though he did not get on the pitch in that game, his inclusion in the squad could indicate a part for him in the long-term plans of the new coach.
But for now, a loan away from Spurs could allow him to continue developing himself and then returning to plead a case for an important role in the North London team. Speaking to Tottenham News, the club insider John Wenham predicted that the club will take this course with the youngster:
“We’ve loaned out 11 players, and Scarlett is the one who still hasn’t gone yet, who people would expect to go”.
“I expect there’ll be some movement on that shortly as well.”

Scarlett had returned from a loan at the Championship side Oxford at the end of the last season, and another loan in the Championship could make sense, with West Bromwich Albion one of the likely options. However, a loan to a Premier League team could also be on the cards, with Leeds United emerging as a viable option.
High praise from Jose Mourinho
During his time at Tottenham, Jose Mourinho had spoken very highly of Scarlett. The Portuguese manager said the following about him back in 2021:
“He is a diamond, a kid with incredible potential. He has worked many times with the first team and that gives him a different personality.
“He is still 16, 17 soon, and I believe next season he will be a first-team squad player because he has a lot of talent.”
Despite his struggles in the last few years, there is no doubt that Scarlett has the talent and the potential to become a top-class player. Hopefully, he will leave on loan in the remaining days of the transfer window to get more opportunities playing and return with his game significantly more developed.
