Tottenham manager Thomas Frank will be pleased with how his team have started the new era at N17
One may argue that Tottenham do not need any more new signings after enduring a positive start to the season. The Lilywhites have managed to win their first two Premier League games of the new campaign convincingly. Thomas Frank’s men have scored five goals and conceded none. The stellar performances against Burnley and Manchester City have given fans a pre-empted notion that no new additions are needed.
But as we all know, Spurs are in the market for a new left-winger and a #10. The Lilywhites have lost James Maddison to an ACL injury and Heung-Min Son has also departed the club after a successful ten-year stint at N17. So, there are no doubts that the North London club needs to replace the pair with new players before the transfer window shuts.

However, Daniel Levy’s approach in the market has not yet worked out and the club is facing a public embarrassment as a result of that. The Lilywhites were on the cusp of sealing the deal for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze. The player had agreed personal terms and the deal was as good as done. But Daniel Levy failed to reach an agreement with the Eagles and Arsenal managed to hijack the player at the eleventh-hour.
Thomas Frank is content with his current Tottenham squad as the transfer window shuts shop in the coming days
Tottenham have managed to bring in Mohammed Kudus from West Ham and Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich in the summer. But it is fair to say that just two new players are not going to make a huge difference to the team this season. And the Lilywhites will need more firepower to compete hard on all four fronts.
However, Thomas Frank seems content with the squad he has right now and indicates that he will be able to manage if no new players are brought in. Speaking in his post-match presser (as transcribed by Football.London), Frank said,
“Yeah, I think it’s extremely important that, a couple of things that we understand we have a good group of players, a talented group of players, a group of good quality players that I’m very pleased with.”
The Spurs manager added,
“So, that’s why we brought in two good players to help. Can we improve it? Perfect. If we can’t, you know, then we have very good players and we just showed that today, so yeah, very happy with that.”
Thomas Frank believes that he acquired a talented group of players and he is ‘pleased’ with how they have performed. The Danish tactician adds that the two new signings (Kudus and Palhinha) have also improved the team in the short time they have been at N17. And the Spurs manager shares that he will be happy with the quality in the team even if the Lilywhites fail to add new players in the coming days.
Thomas Frank wants to make Spurs ‘serial winners’ during his time at the club. But that will not be possible if there is not enough quality in the squad to compete against elite teams. Signing new players should be a priority for Daniel Levy after the club missed out on Eberechi Eze earlier last week.
