English pundit expects Liverpool to sell Harvey Elliott to Tottenham if Daniel Levy comes knocking in for the player
Tottenham Hotspur have not let their transfer mishaps affect their performances on the pitch in the new season.
After multiple failures to secure a new creative midfielder owing to James Maddison’s ACL injury, Spurs have left it until the final week for several new signings. The big disappointment came last week when Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze- top Tottenham target- ended up joining bitter rivals Arsenal instead. The Lilywhites had a deal agreed in principle, only for the Gunners to swoop in late and hijack Eze’s transfer.
Como’s Nico Paz has been identified as one of the alternatives to Eze after his exploits in Serie A last season. However, the Lilywhites have also faced disappointment in their pursuit of Paz, as Como have reportedly rejected their €70 million worth package. This has left everyone attached to the north London club frustrated, and with the transfer window entering its final phase, Daniel Levy’s task to provide Thomas Frank with a new No.10 has become even more difficult.

Liverpool star remains on Tottenham’s radar
It was reported earlier this summer that Tottenham are eyeing a possible deal to land Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott.
The England Under-21 international has lost his way at Anfield under Arne Slot, and he is keen to make the jump to another club for regular game time ahead of next summer’s World Cup. Frank has also held direct talks with the Liverpool star, urging him to join his forces at White Hart Lane.
RB Leipzig have been finalising personal terms with Harvey Elliott as they aim to wrap up the deal in the coming days. But, Spurs have a window of opportunity to make a move and steal him under RB Leipzig’s noses. Famous football commentator Ian Darke believes that the Reds would have no issue selling Elliott to Spurs, despite the two clubs competing in the same Champions League.
“I think in the case of Harvey Elliott, they probably would if the price was right,” Ian Darke exclusively told Liverpool News.
“I don’t think, as good as Harvey Elliott is, in the cold, ruthless light of day, they are going to look at that and think he is going to make the difference.
“I’m not sure Liverpool would see Tottenham as huge challengers to their crown this season. If it were Arsenal or Manchester City, it would be a different kettle of fish.
“Not Tottenham, who were 17th last season, let’s remember, and are still in some kind of transition with the new manager and sorting out new players.
“If the money is right, I think they would let him go. I think they have got to play fair with Harvey Elliott, he has said that if it was left to him, he would play for Liverpool forever, but he wants to make the World Cup squad.
“It is the time in his career where he has got to be a regular for somebody and not just coming on for 15 minutes at the end of games.”

Elliott would be a smart acquisition for Tottenham
Elliott has been at Liverpool for many years now, yet he has never managed to establish himself as a regular. He barely played under Arne Slot last season after returning from a leg fracture, and after the high-profile arrival of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen earlier this summer, the Englishman’s prospects of receiving game time have further plummeted.
The creative midfielder should leave the Reds if he is not going to get regular opportunities to shine, and Tottenham signing him would make great sense. From a tactical point, Frank could use Elliott in midfield and out wide. He can also operate as a No.10, which will only increase the attacking options at our gaffer’s disposal. The 22-year-old’s best attributes are his passing and dribbling, very similar to those of Dejan Kulusevski, who is currently sidelined.
It all lies with Daniel Levy now; Can he convince Elliott that Tottenham would be an ideal destination for the next phase of his development?
