Tottenham Hotspur seem to be suffering from a curse that is preventing them from signing new players this summer transfer window. The club brought in the likes of Mohammed Kudus and Joao Palhinha but have since struggled to convince their transfer targets.
With just around a week to go for the window to slam shut, Tottenham are in now-or-never territory. They have made a solid start to the Premier League season under Thomas Frank, winning both their games thus far.
The highlight had to be the way they outsmarted Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in an intriguing game at the Etihad. Thomas Frank outsmarted the Spanish tactician on the night and set his team up in the perfect way to secure a 2-0 win.
Tottenham have made an approach to sign Nico Paz
Yesterday, it emerged that Tottenham had made an approach to Serie A side Como to try and sign Nico Paz this summer. The North London club were said to have offered close to €70m to convince Como to let him go.
However, as per Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Spanish giants Real Madrid had a massive role in stopping Tottenham’s proposal for Nico Paz. Having come through the Castilla, they still hold control over the player’s future.
The Argentinian playmaker has been one of the best young players in the Serie A since the start of last season along with Juventus wonderkid Kenan Yildiz. A potential move to the Premier League this summer would propel him to the next level.
Real Madrid play spoilsport

The issue for Tottenham however is that Madrid have a €10m buy-back clause on Nico Paz next summer and they have every intention of triggering it when the time comes. The Spanish giants have an agreement with Como to compensate them in the future.
This is a massive blow for Spurs. It is one of those weird transfer deals where Como have an offer that is almost €60m more than what Madrid will offer for the 20-year-old but the Italian side are unable to accept it.
Tottenham, on their part, must continue to push and an opportunity could open up in the coming days of the transfer window. It would be interesting to see how things develop on this front ahead of the closure of the summer transfer window.
