Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool remain interested in Nathan Collins
Tottenham Hotspur were able to significantly strengthen their team in the recently-closed 2025 summer transfer window and brought in some exciting players for all the areas of the team.
For instance, they brought in Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons, and Randal Kolo Muani for the attack, Joao Palhinha for the midfield, and Kota Takai for the defence. Meanwhile, they also extended the contract of Cristian Romero during the summer to further ensure the long-term stability of their backline.
Still, Spurs were reported to be keen to further reinforce their defence in the last days of the market, and remained linked with players like Piero Hincapie, Nathan Ake, and Manuel Akanji. One could have expected these links with other players to die down with the end of the summer transfer window, but this is not turning out to be the case.
This is particularly the case as a report from CaughtOffside claims that Tottenham remain interested in the Brentford captain Nathan Collins, whose future continues to be mired with uncertainty despite the end of the transfer window. Thomas Frank, who worked with the defender during his time with the Bees, is particularly keen for a reunion at Spurs.

Liverpool also have him in their shortlist
Meanwhile, Liverpool also have Collins in their shortlist of preferred defensive targets, but the Merseyside club is yet to make a formal bid for him. Similarly, Manchester United are also expected to keep an eye on him as they look for more defensive reinforcements.
The report goes on to claim that an offer around £50 million can convince Brentford to part ways with their captain, but the prospect of losing such an important player mid-season could complicate a departure.
With Romero and Mikey van de Ven as their established centre-back pairing, Tottenham do not urgently need more players for this area of the team. However, they recently sent Luka Vuskovic on loan, and having another player of Nathan Collins’ stature as a centre-back would definitely be welcome for Thomas Frank, especially this season when Spurs would be competing for both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League titles.
