Daniel Levy’s departure from Tottenham Hotspur could prove to be a sliding doors moment in the club’s history
This has been a summer like no other for Tottenham after going through a lot of chopping and changing in recent months. The transfer window began with Ange Postecoglou getting sacked and being replaced by Thomas Frank. And it ended with Daniel Levy leaving the Lilywhites, ending his 24-year stint at N17.
Most of the decisions taken by the North London club are to ensure that Spurs build on the Europa League success this season and get back to winning ways. Considering that, it is fair to say that Levy was bound to step down sooner or later. The Englishman failed to prioritise the performances on the pitch, leaving the Lilywhites far behind their main rivals in the Premier League.

Under Levy, Tottenham failed to invest in the squad time and again. Numerous managers, most of them world-class, came and left for pastures new because of the former club chairman’s negligence towards the footballing side of things. The wages-to-turnover ratio is the lowest it’s ever been for Spurs, at 42%. This just shows that Daniel Levy was never focused on winning major trophies at N17.
Lewis family promises injection of cash at Tottenham going forward
Well, there is no surprise that Tottenham are pulling out all stops to ensure that the club returns to winning ways on the pitch. The Lilywhites have a great platform to build on after last season’s Europa League success. And the new-look Spurs board has a massive task of ensuring that the focus shifts back to one thing that matters the most… winning silverware consistently.
To ensure that, Spurs are ready for a massive change that will not only excite the fans, but it will also ensure long-term success. Speaking to Sky Sports, Kaveh Solhekol said,
“A lot of Tottenham fans complain about the fact that they don’t spend as much money on players as their rivals or pay the kind of wages their rivals pay, now that could be set to change because Tottenham’s majority holders, The Lewis Family, could be ready to put more money into the club.”
The football expert added,
“How would that extra money be spent? Well, that would be up to the new leadership team at Tottenham because they have been told what you need to do is deliver more success on the pitch.”
Kaveh Solhekol has suggested that the Lewis family are aiming to inject more cash into Tottenham following Daniel Levy’s departure earlier last week. The football expert adds that the money that is invested will be used for bringing in new players, as well as, on paying higher wages to key players going forward. Solhekol also suggests that the Lewis family want to see the club deliver more success on the pitch, so they are depending on the new Tottenham hierarchy to utilise the money wisely.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the North London club. But fans can only hope that they don’t have to wait for 17 more years before they get to see Spurs lift another major trophy. By the looks of it, the Lilywhites are looking stronger than ever to maintain success from last season, and build on it going forward.
