Tottenham Hotspur failed in their efforts to offload Yves Bissouma as the part of a deal for Lucas Paqueta
Tottenham managed to save face in the transfer window by bringing in some quality players for this season. The arrival of Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons, and Randal Kolo Muani meant that the Lilywhites are not looking to mess around under Thomas Frank. In fact, the North London club is looking to build on the Europa Leagues success under the Danish tactician.
However, Spurs did fail to offload some unwanted players during the latter stages of the transfer window. One of those players that the club could not sell is Yves Bissouma. The Mali international quickly fell down the pecking order under Thomas Frank during the pre-season tour. The reason was obvious… he lacked discipline and was never on time for several team meetings.

The 28-year-old was not selected for the game against PSG in the UEFA Super Cup final earlier last month as well. And it certainly looked like he had run his race at N17, with a transfer looking imminent before the transfer window shut. But that was not meant to be the case for the midfielder as Spurs failed to find a suitor for him.
Tottenham offered Yves Bissouma to West Ham as part of a swap deal to land Lucas Paqueta
There is no surprise that Tottenham were looking to bring in a new #10 in the summer following James Maddison’s horrific injury. Before the Lilywhites signed Xavi Simons as Maddison’s replacement, the North London club was heavily linked with a move for West Ham star Lucas Paqueta. The Brazil international was facing an uncertain future at the London Stadium, with the Hammers open to selling him.
But as we all know, Paqueta stayed put in West London, and Spurs looked for alternatives instead. Now, new information has come to light regarding the Lilywhites’ effort to land Lucas Paqueta. As per West Ham News,
“He (Yves Bissouma) was offered as a loan swap when Spurs asked about Paquetá. It had no chance.”

Tottenham offered Yves Bissouma to West Ham in order to seal the deal for Lucas Paqueta. The Lilywhites were hopeful of striking a deal for the Brazil international by offering a swap deal. However, the Hammers knew what the North London club’s gameplay was, and decided to reject any advances for the 27-year-old.
Since then, Yves Bissouma has not managed to sign for any club as yet. It looks highly possible that the Mali international stays put at N17 and fights for his place in the starting eleven. It will be tough for the 28-year-old to fight his way back into consideration, given the fact that Thomas Frank is not keen to integrate him into the squad.
