Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a strong summer after managing to bring in several top players
For once, Tottenham showed ambition in the transfer market and brought in genuine world-class players in the summer. The Lilywhites managed to end last season on a massive high after winning the Europa League against all odds. And fans were hoping that Daniel Levy and Co. backed Thomas Frank in the transfer window to give him a solid platform to build on this season.
That is exactly what Levy did in what turned out to be his last transfer window as Spurs chairman. The Englishman saved face by signing quality players that would bolster the team moving forward. Not only did the Lilywhites hire Thomas Frank immediately after sacking Ange Postecoglou, but they also brought in seven other players that could elevate the quality of the squad.

The North London club first announced the permanent signing of Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso early in the window. They followed that up by bringing in Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, and Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich to bolster the squad. To everyone’s surprise, Daniel Levy ended the summer with a bang by signing two world-class players in Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani.
Tottenham hailed for securing top deals in the summer
Tottenham’s newest recruits have already hit the ground running this season. The Lilywhites have managed to register four wins out of their opening five games, with most of the credit going to the new players for settling in quickly and playing a crucial role in helping the North London club attain a strong start to the new campaign.
Darren Bent has also taken the opportunity to hail Spurs’ ability to bring in players that have made an instant impact. Speaking on talkSPORT, Bent said,
“They’ve made one or two signings that I quite like. Even getting Palhinha on loan – I thought that was a really good signing for the midfield, which they probably needed. Xavi Simons and Kudus as well.”
The ex-Spurs player added,
“I don’t think Mathys Tel has quite got going yet since he’s been there. Even Kolo Muani, whom we haven’t seen yet, was brought in on loan. Overall, they’ve made some really good signings. Add Thomas Frank to that, and I think they’re a really good outfit.”
Darren Bent has praised Tottenham for signing quality players in the summer. The ex-player backed the Lilywhites’ decision to bring in Joao Palhinha, Xavi Simons, and Mohammed Kudus, suggesting that all three players bring stability to the team. Bent also believes that Mathys Tel and Kolo Muani will prove their worth at N17 once they find consistency and rhythm.
All eyes will now be on Thomas Frank as he looks to compete hard on all four fronts this season. The Danish tactician needs to bring the best out of his players if they want to endure a successful campaign. And fans will also hope that the new players hit the ground running quickly and make an instant impact on the pitch at N17.
