Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke spotted back in individual training ahead of trip to Brighton
Tottenham Hotspur’s impressive start to the new season continued under Thomas Frank as they claimed a 1-0 victory over Villarreal in the Champions League.
It marked Spurs’ fourth win in five matches in the Thomas Frank era and also saw the team keep a fourth clean sheet, marking a stark contrast to last season when an injury depleted team leaked goals left, right and centre under Ange Postecoglou. Before overcoming Villarreal, they got back to winning ways in the Premier League by thrashing a hapless 10-man West Ham United at the London Stadium.
It was the kind of response Frank was looking for after his side’s unbeaten start had come to an end at the hands of Bournemouth before the international break. With back-to-back wins under their locker, the Lilywhites will be looking to carry such form into their Premier League meeting with Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
Dominic Solanke back in individual training ahead of trip to Brighton
An additional positive from the win over Villarreal was no fresh injuries were reported. On Thursday, Tottenham were handed a huge injury boost ahead of the Brighton game.
According to Sky Sports News on X, Dominic Solanke was spotted in individual training as he works his way back to fitness following an ankle injury.
The England international has managed just 49 minutes of action across all competitions this season. He has not been in the Spurs squad since the 2-0 win over Manchester City. This was the same ankle issue that kept Dominic Solanke out for the majority of the pre-season, and Frank had said last weekend that the striker would not feature against Villarreal.
This means Solanke has now missed league fixtures against Bournemouth and West Ham, as well as the Champions League win over Villarreal. While he was spotted doing a solo session on Thursday, it is unlikely the 28-year-old will be fit enough to feature at Brighton.

“He’s [Solanke] right on the other side doing some individual work,” the Sky Sports reporter claimed.
“That tells me it is probably unlikely he will feature against Brighton, but could he feature against Doncaster in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?
“Spurs have started ever so well, Richarlison started well and Randal Kolo Muani made his debut on Tuesday against Villarreal, but it’s big news and good news for Spurs fans and Thomas Frank.”
Back for Carabao Cup tie vs Doncaster Rovers?
Solanke spotted doing individual drills and work on the training field is a positive update for Frank. He has fallen behind Richarlison in terms of fitness and form, with the English centre-forward failing to find the back of the net in two appearances so far this term.
As things stand, the Spurs marksman featuring against Brighton at the weekend looks pretty unlikely. So, there is a big possibility that he is included in the squad for the Carabao Cup third-round tie with Doncaster Rovers on Wednesday evening.
