Ex-Spurs scout claims Tottenham Hotspur actually underpaid for Mohammed Kudus in the summer transfer window
Tottenham Hotspur fans will be happy to see that that the majority of new signings are feeling right at home at N17.
The north Londoners managed to bolster their squad significantly over the summer transfer window following their Europa League success. Bringing in quality players was a statement of intent by the club, backing their new boss Thomas Frank with the tools required to compete well in all competitions.
It is fair to say that Spurs shocked the footballing world by landing Mohammed Kudus from London rivals West Ham United in July. They had to pay £55m to secure the creative attacker’s signature, and since the UEFA Super Cup, he has been the team’s best attacker by a distance.

Bryan King says Tottenham could have easily paid a lot more than £55m for Mohammed Kudus
Mohammed Kudus has quickly become indispensable to Thomas Frank’s side. Former Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe thinks the Ghanaian international can take the Lilywhites to the next level, and the player has already made his mark with three assists in the opening six Premier League appearances.
Now, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King believes that Tottenham have easily paid £10-15m less for Kudus. He feels it is one of the best deals the Europa League winners have done in recent years.
“When you’re talking about footballers and fees today, an average player is going to cost you £20m,” Bryan King exclusively told Tottenham News.
“When you find someone who’s got a little bit of something special, and Kudus has got pace, he can play either wing, and his delivery is always dangerous.
“For that kind of player, you’d be looking to pay £65m or £70m for him. If Kudus continues like he is, then I think he’s going to be a good bit of business for Tottenham.
“The deal will certainly have come from Frank. With him being Danish, he’d have known about him when he was at Nordsjaelland. I think it’s already turning out to be one of the best deals that Tottenham have done in the last two or three years.”

Kudus yet to break his Tottenham duck
Kudus has performed really well since the start of the season, adding flair, creative spark, dynamism and energy to the Tottenham attack. Fans and Frank will be delighted with the African star’s impact, but they must be keen to see him add goals to his game, especially with strikers Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani currently injured.
The Nima-born talent showed at West Ham that he can score goals, having netted 14 goals in all competitions during his first season. Kudus thought he broke his Tottenham duck when he found the back of the net in the first half of the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend, only for the linesman to chalk it off for offside.
Regardless of not scoring a goal thus far, signing Kudus for £55m actually represents a bargain for Tottenham in today’s age and market.
