Tottenham youngster Dane Scarlett trained with the England senior squad on Monday to fill in for the injured Ollie Watkins
Tottenham Hotspur have seen several players go out and represent their respective nations during this ongoing international break.
Pedro Porro was a part of the Spain side that beat Georgia 2-0 in a World Cup Qualifier on Sunday, while Dutch duo Micky van de Ven and Xavi Simons played their roles in the back-to-back 4-0 rout of Malta and Finland.
In a blow to Spurs, Yves Bissouma got injured again moments after coming on the pitch for Mali against Madagascar. The midfielder was stretchered off in the 72nd minute, as Mali defeated Madagascar 4-1 in a World Cup qualifier. On Monday, the Tottenham fans also received a surprising news.

Dane Scarlett called up to the England squad
According to a report from The Daily Mirror, Dane Scarlett has been called up to the England senior squad. The Spurs academy graduate joined the England senior squad for training on Monday morning ahead of their trip to Latvia tomorrow, where a victory would seal their place in the 2026 World Cup.
Dane Scarlett has been selected to fil in for the injured Ollie Watkins, who returned to Aston Villa after picking up a knock in Thursday’s win over Wales. Thomas Tuchel needed a striker after Watkins’ withdrawal, and Scarlett was quickly roped in. The striker has seven caps for the England Under-21 side but was not called up to the latest squad.
England took to their official X account to share a snap of Scarlett during a training session alongside former Tottenham star Harry Kane, who was absent against Wales last week.
Great experience for Scarlett
Scarlett is at least spending the first half of the season at his boyhood club after the Hotspur Way chiefs opted against sending him on another loan spell. The 21-year-old has mainly spent the last few years on loan at Portsmouth, Ipswich Town and Oxford United to continue his development. Having failed to establish himself as a regular in the Oxford United side, Spurs had recalled the striker from loan in January 2025.
The Englishman has barely played this season due to injury issues. So, to train with the senior England squad at the Hotspur Way training ground under Tuchel’s guidance would have been a great experience for Scarlett, who requires a run of games to regain his confidence.
Hailed as the next big thing in the Premier League back in 2021 by former boss Jose Mourinho, Tottenham bosses must get their next loan destination for Scarlett spot on to get help get back his career on track.
As far as his England senior call-up goes, Scarlett is unlikely to feature against Latvia on Tuesday. He has only been roped in to make up the numbers in the squad that travels to Latvia.
