Tottenham among Premier League clubs keeping close tabs on the situation of Ardon Jashari at AC Milan

Tottenham Hotspur now stand at a very pivotal juncture in their campaign. Their strong start to the season has faded and recent poor results have seen Thomas Frank’s side drop out of the Premier League’s top four spots. There have been some evident deficiencies in the squad that Thomas Frank would hope to get to the end of in the winter transfer window.

Spurs have laboured in midfield in recent games, with the partnership of Joao Palhinha and Rodrigo Bentancur- which was being raved about in the opening weeks of the new campaign- now struggling. The duo are not incisive passers of the ball and that is hurting the Lilywhites from building sustained attacks from the middle of the park. It has also had an impact on big-money summer signing Xavi Simons’ performances in the final third.

Thus, the north Londoners must make it one of their priorities to invest in a new midfielder when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

Tottenham were linked with several midfielders during the summer transfer window. Ardon Jashari was one of them. Plying his trade at Club Brugge then, Ardon Jashari was wanted by several top European clubs in the summer, but it was AC Milan who won the race for his signature after a prolonged transfer saga.

The 23-year-old has endured an injury-hit start to his AC Milan career. The defensive midfielder suffered a fibula injury following a collision with Santiago Gimenez in training, causing a massive setback. He is now close to returning to action after spending two months on the sidelines. Despite only joining Milan in August, there are some clubs keeping tabs on him.

According to a report from Milan Live, Tottenham, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest are keeping tabs on the situation of Ardon Jashari at San Siro. The Switzerland international has barely played for Milan but that hasn’t stopped clubs from monitoring him.

Jashari has had a poor start to the season, thanks to a fibula injury, sidelining him for more than two months. During this period, experienced pros like Luka Modric and Adrien Rabiot has established themselves as regulars in Max Allegri’s side. The Rossoneri are waiting for the young midfielder to return from injury and challenge the likes of Rabiot, Modric, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Samuele Ricci for a spot in midfield.

Milan unlikely to let Jashari leave in January

Jashari joined Milan from Club Brugge in the summer after drawn-out negotiations lasting over a month. The Swiss went onto force a move to the Serie A side, promising never to play for Club Brugge. This demonstrated his strong resolve as he only wanted to join the Rossoneri, having cited the legendary Andrea Pirlo as his idol.

Also, Milan were hellbent to sign him in the summer, which is why it is unlikely to see them sanction a move for Jashari- even a loan deal- in January if any club comes calling for his signature. Once Jashari returns and gets back to his rhythm, speculation surrounding him should fade away. That said, if the Swiss fails to establish himself in Allegri’s first XI and seeks for regular game time ahead of the 2026 World Cup, a loan transfer could then materialise. And Spurs might benefit then.

For now, Tottenham can only continue to closely monitor Jashari’s actions after he returns from injury.
