Jamie Redknapp praises Thomas Frank for his match winning approach for Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton
Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a thrilling 3-0 win over an in-form David Moyes side as Thomas Frank’s side made history to become the first away team to take all three points from the Blues’ new Hill Dickinson stadium.
It was a game of set pieces. Ones that counted and ones that didn’t. While the visitors saw a couple of them ending in the back of the net, the hosts had one of their own which was ruled out with Everton’s Ndiaye in an offsideposition whilst holding off Vicario.
But coming to set pieces, Micky van de Ven was the star. He scored a brace today to become Spurs’ highest goal scorer in the Premier League this season. This in a way shows how big of an impact that Tottenham had from dead-ball situations since the Dane head coach took over the reins at Hotspur Way.
Jamie Redknapp comes with high praises as Thomas Frank & Co. gets better of Everton with set pieces

Everton were lining up in a compact structure, which is quite difficult to create against, especially given the creative problems that the Lilywhites have had of late. And that is where set pieces came as a much-needed saviour once again.
Micky van de Ven rose up on two occasions, and former Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp has praised the Dutch defender while also speaking about how these goals are down to the work done by Thomas Frank and his staff. He said on Sky Sports (via BBC):
“Tottenham were very good defensively and I thought the midfielders were really strong in both defence and attack.
He was the star man today, Micky van de Ven. He was so effective in set-piece situations.
Thomas Frank will make sure those details are spot on.”
TTLB Opinion

We know how set pieces were very crucial for Brentford while Thomas Frank was still in charge at Gtech Community Stadium. And he has brought that set-piece ability to N17.
We can see that from not only how Tottenham are going into these situations on the offensive side of things but also how they defend set pieces as well. While there is this apparent Vicario problem in defending such sequences, he has also been showing a lot of signs of improvement of late.
This is a side of Tottenham that we barely saw last season.
And now the Lilywhites are among the running teams in the English top tier when it comes to dead ball situations. That has to count. It will come through as an important asset in these kinds of games, where the Lilywhites need a way to pierce through the defence.
How much of this improvement in dead-ball situations would you credit Thomas Frank with? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
