Fabio Paratici admits that he regrets the decision to sack former Tottenham Hotspur manager Nuno Espirito Santo
According to a statement from Tottenham Hotspur on their official website (h/t The Sun), Fabio Paratici, the club’s Managing Director has said that he regrets the decision to sack Nuno Espirito Santo.
The 47-year-old was sacked earlier today following the 3-0 loss against Manchester United in the Premier League. It was his fifth loss as a manager in just ten Premier League games this season. The Portuguese tactician now finds himself out of the job, just four months after taking charge.
Santo ironically had a great start to his reign at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as he won the opening three matches in the league. That run included the win against the current Premier League champions Manchester City by a scoreline of 1-0 on opening day.
However, his stint unravelled soon and Spurs have looked listless in the last few weeks. Paratici admits that Nuno and his staff were determined to bring success to the club and that it regrets him to make the decision to part ways.
“I know how much Nuno and his coaching staff wanted to succeed and I regret that we have had to take this decision. Nuno is a true gentleman and will always be welcome here. We should like to thank him and his coaching staff and wish them well for the future.”
While the former Wolverhampton Wanderers coach won the Manager of the Month award in August, his team quickly lost the early promise that was shown. Currently, Antonio Conte is heavily linked with a move to Tottenham with Fabrizio Romano saying that the deal is very close.

The English club is in dire need of stability within the club as changing managers constantly hamper long term success. Conte would offer quality in terms of managerial prowess but he has to be backed to have a chance at success. But it remains to be seen whether the Italian would be appointed as the next coach as the terms are not yet finalised.
