Timo Werner has emerged as a surprise target for Tottenham, according to Sport Bild (h/t Daily Mail).

The German international struggled to perform in the World Cup but has been in decent touch with RB Leipzig this season.

The 22-year-old has scored 11 times in 16 Bundesliga games in the current campaign, and the report adds that Liverpool are also interested in the striker.

Werner has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a while (h/t Daily Mail), the German is also of interest to Borussia Dortmund after they sold Christian Pulisic to Chelsea.

The German would be an excellent addition for any side in Europe, and it is surprising seeing us being linked with the forward.

Harry Kane is an excellent striker and Werner could partner the England captain at Spurs. Both forwards are full of running and have great finishing ability, and we have played with two forwards under Mauricio Pochettino this season.

Son Heung-min has done a fantastic job alongside Kane in a few games this season and Werner’s signing would be fantastic for the upcoming campaign.

Tottenham should have their new stadium ready by next season, and Champions League football could be another attractive feature for the German.

It will be interesting to see how things develop with the striker since he is one of the rising stars in the Bundesliga, and hopefully, we sing the right players to make our team stronger next season.
