Real Madrid to hold talks with Tottenham over Christian Eriksen deal

Real Madrid are preparing a serious bid for Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen, according to Marca (h/t Mirror).

The 27-year-old has refused to sign a new deal with Spurs and is in the last year of his contract. Eriksen could leave on a free transfer at the end of this season, but Tottenham could sell him in January and generate some funds.

The report claims that Madrid will hold discussions with Tottenham to sign Eriksen in the January window.

However, the La Liga giants will not approach Eriksen directly until January to avoid falling foul of the transfer rules (h/t Mirror).

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has also asked his trusted advisors to find the best solution for the Dane’s situation (h/t Mirror).

Eriksen has struggled for form this season and was linked with Real in the summer (h/t Mirror).

The 27-year-old has recorded just one goal and one assist in eight Premier League games. The former Ajax star has also struggled in the Champions League this season.

Letting go of the Dane in January could be the best option for Spurs. We would get something from his transfer and not let him leave on a free.

Spurs have Giovani Lo Celso on the books, and the Argentine could play in a similar position as Eriksen.
