Celtic on alert as Victor Wanyama is free to leave Tottenham
Victor Wanyama is one of the several players who are on the chopping block at Tottenham, according to the Times (h/t Evening Times).
The 28-year-old has had injury problems over the past two seasons and has started just one game for us this campaign. That came in the Carabao Cup loss to Colchester, with many of our players struggling to put in a great shift.
The midfielder has also seen increased competition for places in the side, and the Evening Times adds that Celtic are on alert regarding the Kenyan’s situation.
The report adds that Wanyama will be allowed to leave in January and Neil Lennon wanted to sign him on loan. Wages are a problem for Celtic but the midfielder could be open to a cut with the offer of first-team football (h/t Evening Times).
Wanyama needs to be sold and not loaned
Returning to Celtic could give
Tottenham have several options for their midfield slots and they don’t need to keep Wanyama.
However, we cannot accept just a loan offer and any deal should include the option to make the move permanent. Tanguy Ndombele has been great since joining from Lyon, and we should see more of Oliver Skipp this season too.
