Steven Bergwijn ineligible to face Southampton in FA Cup replay
Steven Bergwijn lit up the Tottenham Hotspur on his debut last Sunday. He opened the scoring as Spurs trumped defending champions Manchester City 2-0.
The Dutch attacker added impetus to an attack that has lacked inspiration and urgency in recent weeks. He was soon taken off due to cramps but it was a debut to remember for both the player and an expectant fanbase.
The Dutchman will, however, play no part in Tottenham FA Cup 4th round replay against Southampton.
This is because of FA regulations that disqualify any player ineligible to play the original tie. The winger joined the club two days after the clash at St Marys which effectively rules him out of the replay. (h/t Football London)
With the Premier League currently on a winter break, Spurs fans will have to wait until 16th February before they can witness the Dutch international in action.
Bergwijn has been added to the Spurs squad for the UEFA Champions League. His electric presence will surely aid our cause against RB Leipzig.

Injuries to Harry Kane and Moussa Sissoko nearly derailed Tottenham’s season. With the addition of Bergwijn, however, there is real hope that we can make the top four.
Tottenham are currently in fifth spot, four points off fourth-placed Chelsea. Spurs face the Blues on the 22nd in what could be a shootout for fourth.
