Victor Wanyama misses out as Tottenham name Champions League squad

Tottenham Hotspur have announced their squad for the UEFA Champions League last-16 tie against Bundesliga leaders RB Leipzig. (h/t Football London)

Victor Wanyama remains the only notable absentee as captain Hugo Lloris returns in place of the injured Michel Vorm.

Christian Eriksen, Kyle Walker-Peters and Danny Rose have all been deregistered with neither of the three still at the club. Eriksen left for Inter Milan whereas Walker-Peters and Rose are on loan at Southampton and Newcastle respectively.

Tottenham
Fernandes and Bergwijn have been added to the squad

New signings Gedson Fernandes and Steven Bergwijn have also been included in the squad. Fernandes and Bergwijn have already represented Benfica and PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League this season. Thankfully, due to the change in rules regarding players being cup-tied, both of them are eligible to represent Spurs.

Harry Kane and Moussa Sissoko have been retained in the squad in spite of both players suffering from long term injuries.

Spurs play Bundesliga side, RB Leipzig, in the last-16. A balanced tie on paper, the addition of Fernandes and Bergwijn should give us enough quality to account for the loss of Kane, Eriksen, and Sissoko.

The first leg will be played at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on 19 January, with the return leg scheduled for 10th March.
