Injury boost as Giovani Lo Celso injury not as bad as feared
Tottenham Hotspur will be buoyed by the news concerning Giovani Lo Celso. The midfielder’s injury isn’t as bad as feared and he should return after the winter break, according to Football.London.
Lo Celso has been Spurs’ best player over the last few weeks and his absence would have been a catastrophe for Jose Mourinho. The 23-year-old initially struggled for form and fitness. However, after a run of games, he has now established himself as an excellent replacement for Christian Eriksen.
The player sueffered a thigh injury that kept him out of the FA Cup replay against Southampton.
Lo Celso’s absence was evident on the pitch as Spurs failed to create openings to aid their attack. The situation only changed in the second half upon the introduction of Dele Alli.
The midfielder’s injury comes at an opportune time in the midst of the club’s winter break. This should give the player enough time to recover as Spurs look to resume their top-four chase with a victory against Aston Villa.
With Tottenham set to face off against RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League round of 16, the midfielder’s availability will come as a massive boost. Lo Celso’s compatriot Erik Lamela also missed the match against Southampton due to a groin problem. (h/t Football.London)
