Harry Kane targeted by Manchester United despite not being on Solskjaer’s wishlist
Manchester United have made an enquiry for Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane despite the England captain not being a part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s initial transfer shortlist, states a report from the Athletic (h/t Express).
Kane has established himself as one of the deadliest marksmen in the game. Since bursting onto the scenes over half-a-decade ago, the Englishman has been one of our best players. Despite being out injured since January, Kane is still the leading goalscorer for Tottenham this term with 17 strikes.
There have been rumours of interest from arch-rivals Manchester United recently. The 20-time English champions have already made an enquiry with Tottenham over the possibility of signing Kane in the next transfer window. (h/t Express)
But according to the Athletic (h/t Express), Kane was not a part of Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s transfer wishlist. The report claims that the Red Devils boss handed a shortlist of his transfer targets to the club hierarchy in February and Kane’s name was absent from the list.
The reason for Solskjaer excluding Kane from his original shortlist was that the 26-year-old had been deemed as an unrealistic target by the Manchester United boss. But with Tottenham facing the prospect of missing out on European football next season, the 20-time champions now see an opportunity to prise Kane away from the club. (h/t Express)
There is no denying the fact that Kane is one of our most important players. The 26-year-old is someone who Jose Mourinho should build his team around and losing him will be a devastating blow. So it is imperative that the club does everything possible to ensure that our star striker stays put come summer.
