Moussa Sissoko reckons Jose Mourinho is the future of Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko has backed manager Jose Mourinho to come good, claiming that the Portuguese is the future of the club (h/t Evening Standard).

Mourinho was brought in at Tottenham in November last year, following the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino. Things seemed to have improved upon the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager’s arrival. But a spate of injuries since the turn of the year contributed to a steep decline in our club’s form.

Prior to the season getting suspended, Tottenham had slipped down to the eighth place in the Premier League table and were already eliminated from the FA Cup and the Champions League.

The results haven’t gone Mourinho’s way recently, but Moussa Sissoko has claimed that the players are happy working with the Portuguese tactician. The French midfielder further stated that the former Real Madrid manager had brought a sense of freshness to the squad since coming in, before adding that he is the future of the club (h/t Evening Standard).

“We aren’t going to spit on what Pochettino did, he brought the club to a new level, but now our future is Jose Mourinho.”

Sissoko is not the first Tottenham player to speak in glowing terms about Mourinho. Only last month, star defender Toby Alderweireld had praised the Portuguese tactician’s man-management qualities while hailing the impact that he has made since taking over the reins at the club.
