Tanguy Ndombele ready to quit Tottenham after training session with Mourinho
Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele is ready to call it quits, according to L’Equipe (h/t Sun).
Ndombele was one of our big signings at the start of the season but things haven’t gone well for him.
The Frenchman has just two goals all season and has struggled for fitness too. He has been criticised by Jose Mourinho in recent months too (h/t Sun) but the move caught the attention of many.
Ndombele was one of the stars that Mourinho called out for special training despite the Government ordering a lockdown. The Frenchman agreed to the session with Mourinho, but the boss received a warning from the club and the police too (h/t Sun).
This seems to be the final straw for the midfielder and the report claims that Barcelona could be a destination for the Frenchman. The 23-year-old has started just 12 Premier League games for us this season, with four more in the Champions League.
A move that failed to work?
Mourinho is known for doing radical things in trying to get his players clicking, but this move certainly didn’t click.
Ndombele has been criticised by Mourinho in the past, and asking him to participate in a special training session during these times was uncalled for.
Ndombele is a France international and sometimes, players take time to adjust to a new country and league. We cannot afford to lose a talented midfielder like him, especially after just one year at the club.
Mourinho does have Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko and Eric Dier to call upon, but they have also had inconsistent seasons this time around.
