Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho wants 2019/20 Premier League season to finish
In an interview with Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has claimed that he misses football and wants the 2019/20 Premier League season to finish.
The coronavirus pandemic forced football in UK into suspension last month. There have been plans for a resumption, with clubs recently opening their training grounds for players again. However, there is still a lack of clarity as to when footballing action will resume.
Moreover, with leagues in the Netherlands and France getting cancelled altogether, there are concerns if Premier League will resume or not. However, Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has claimed that finishing the season would be beneficial for all parties involved (h/t Sky Sports).
“I miss football. But we have to be patient, this is a fight that we all have to fight. If we play the remaining nine matches this season it will be good for every one of us. It will be good for football, for the Premier League.”
The Portuguese claimed that even if matches are played behind closed doors, millions and millions across the globe will be watching it on TV, meaning that the stadiums, even if they are empty, they will not be empty at all (h/t Sky Sports).
Mourinho also provided an important update regarding some of our injured players. The manager revealed that star striker Harry Kane, midfielder Moussa Sissoko and January signing Steven Bergwijn are all fit. But he further added that their match-readiness can only be assessed once team training resumes (h/t Sky Sports).
“I don’t know, they don’t know, we have to wait for the right permission for them to train again in groups to see if they can come back to a normal competition level.”
