According to Mirror, England captain and Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane has led the sporting tributes on the 75th anniversary of VE Day.

VE day signifies the end of World War II in Europe. The momentous day occurred three-quarters of a century ago after Nazi Germany capitulated to England and her allies.

It brought to an end six years of pain and suffering to a number of nations all across Europe. VE Day marks an important time to recognize the efforts of all those involved in the war effort. This includes remembering the estimated 85 million people who lost their lives worldwide.

The Spurs star took to Twitter to send out a message to those who fought and gave their lives so that we may today live in peace.

The striker’s tweet was accompanied by a picture. It showed him standing with his head bowed alongside a silhouette statue of a ‘Tommy’ soldier. It symbolizes those who have fought in the conflict.

Kane’s England teammates Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford also followed the skipper in posting their thanks to the warriors who gave their lives in the war. Former Tottenham star Gary Linekar also joined in alongside Michael Owen. (h/t Mirror)
