Danny Rose has revealed Mauricio Pochettino wanted to sign Harry Maguire at Tottenham
Tottenham star Danny Rose, who is currently on loan at Newcastle United, has revealed that former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino was keen on signing Harry Maguire during his time at the club. (h/t Metro)
Speaking on The Lockdown Tactics podcast (h/t Metro), Rose said:
“I remember we played Hull at White Hart Lane [in December 2016] and we won 3-0. Mauricio was manager and the gaffer was all over Harry [Maguire]. I think they [Tottenham] were in for him.”
However, a move never materialized. Instead, Maguire joined Leicester City in 2017 and enjoyed two fruitful seasons before Manchester United signed him last summer in a world-record £80m transfer.
Rose’s revelation about Pochettino’s admiration of the Manchester United star brought out a lot of reactions from the Tottenham faithful. They took to Twitter to express their thoughts on the matter.

Danny Rose confirmed Poch wanted Harry Maguire. Reports are Poch also wanted Dybala, Bruno Fernandes & Coutinho, he didn’t get any of these players.
These players are Jose type players too. Big names, finished article, straight into first 11 types. It’s shame. #COYS #THFC
