Pochettino was axed by Tottenham last November after a poor start to the 2019/20 campaign. However, the Argentine was on gardening leave, the period for which ended earlier this Tuesday. Free to join any club now, he could be set to take up the Newcastle United job, Ardiles has claimed. (h/t Mirror)

Newcastle United are subject of a £300m takeover and have identified Pochettino as the right man to lead the project. Ardiles has now confirmed that the Magpies have indeed held talks with Poch, who is considering taking up the offer. (h/t Mirror)

“He is linked with Newcastle United and when he spoke directly to that club there were many first-rate people involved who made him a good offer. He will hear offers again, but Newcastle is a firm possibility to work again.”

Pochettino himself alluded to a Premier League return in a recent interview with Sky Sports, claiming that he loved staying in England. Although he did say he would be open to offers from other countries.

“I love England. My idea is to keep living in London. But at the same time I am open to different countries, to listen and see what happens.”
