Tottenham target Ryan Fraser set to turn down short-term contract extension at Bournemouth

According to a report from The Sun, Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser, who is a transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur, will turn down a short-term contract extension from the Cherries.

This would mean that the Scotsman will not finish the 2019/20 campaign with the club and will be available for free after June 30, when his current deal expires. (h/t The Sun)

The 26-year-old has been with Bournemouth for seven years now and has made 208 appearances for the South Coast club. He has notched up returns of 24 goals and 33 assists. In the ongoing campaign, the Scotsman has contributed with a solitary goal and four assists in 32 appearances across all competitions.

Fraser has been linked with a switch to Tottenham for quite some time now. Reports had even claimed that the Scottish international had set his hearts on a transfer to our club, with chairman Daniel Levy readying a lucrative contract offer to secure his services.

Tottenham, though, are not the only club interested in signing Fraser. Our cross-town rivals Arsenal are also in the running, while there has also been interest from Turkish club Galatasaray.

Signing an experienced Premier League player, with his prime years still ahead of him on a free transfer would be a great move by the club. Especially considering our financial situation at the moment.

With Fraser now refusing to extend his contract beyond this month, he will be able to sign for a new club starting July 1. Let’s hope that Levy & co. are able to convince him to make the switch to Tottenham once his deal runs out.
