Paul Robinson tips Tottenham to make a move for Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud
In an interview with Football Insider (h/t Daily Star), former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has tipped the Lilywhites to make a move for Chelsea star Olivier Giroud, claiming that the Frenchman would be a smart signing.
It is no secret that Tottenham are in need of a new striker before the next season starts. As of now, Harry Kane is the only senior centre-forward at manager Jose Mourinho’s disposal. His injury early in January this year exposed the lack of depth in the position, something that must and should be addressed this summer.
This has seen Tottenham get linked with a host of strikers in recent weeks. Few of the forwards that have been linked, like M’Baye Niang, Victor Osimhen and Arkadiusz Milik, have expressed concerns over a move to the club though, claiming that they will not be content playing second-fiddle to Kane.
As a result, Robinson has opined that Tottenham would be served better moving for Giroud, who wouldn’t have any such reservations. (h/t Daily Star)
The 33-year-old had been linked with a move to Spurs back in January. There have been some speculations that Mourinho might make rekindle his interest in the Frenchman, which would be a good move according to Robinson. (h/t Daily Star)
“Mourinho will only play with one striker and you have got to remember that they have Son as well. He [Kane] is still scoring goals despite missing great big chunks of seasons through injury but do you want to risk it as a player coming in? It is a tough sell. In January they tried to get Giroud and I still think he would be a smart signing.”

Giroud, despite being 33, has proven to be an able scorer for Chelsea. He would be a viable option for us. But it remains to be seen if the club does make a move for him.
