Arsenal closing in on signing Chelsea star Willian
According to The Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea star Willian, who has been heavily linked with Tottenham, could be on the verge of signing for arch rivals Arsenal.
Willian has had an impressive 2019/20 campaign. The Brazilian has scored 11 goals and set up 9 more in 47 matches in all competitions. The 31-year-old is in the final few days of his contract with Chelsea and hasn’t been able to agree terms on a new deal as of yet.
The two parties are in a stand-off over the length of the contract, with Willian demanding a three-year deal, which the Blues are unwilling to meet. Chelsea boss Frank Lampard wants to keep hold of the winger. But it is looking increasingly likely that he will be on his way out. (h/t The Guardian)
The Brazilian’s contractual situation has led to intense speculations over his future, with Tottenham one of the clubs heavily linked with the winger. In fact, it was even reported that Spurs had made a lucrative contract offer to secure his signing.
Willian, too, had hinted at a potential switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, coming out in praise of manager Jose Mourinho, while admitting that the pair share a very good relationship.
However, according to the aforementioned report from The Guardian, Willian could be closer to joining our arch rivals Arsenal instead.

While Willian isn’t exactly a necessary signing for us, adding someone of his experience would have served us well. More so, considering the fact that he would be available on a free transfer.
However, it seems like the Brazilian international could be on his way to the Emirates Stadium instead.
