Newcastle United eyeing loan move for Ryan Sessegnon

According to a report from The Sun, Newcastle United are lining up a season-long loan move for Tottenham Hotspur starlet Ryan Sessegnon in the ongoing transfer window.

The 20-year-old Sessegnon arrived at Tottenham from Fulham last year, in a deal worth £25m. However, the young Englishman has endured a difficult debut campaign in London.

Injuries have hampered his progress a great deal, while new manager Jose Mourinho also did not offer him a lot of opportunities when fit and available.

Sessegnon ended the 2019/20 campaign with just 12 appearances across all competitions, scoring and assisting a solitary goal apiece. With his development stalling, this has led to speculations over his future at the club.

Sessegnon’s former club, Fulham, are reportedly interested in taking him on loan for next season now that they are back in the Premier League. And now, Newcastle United are also considering signing the England youth international on a year-long temporary deal. (h/t The Sun)

The Magpies’ boss, Steve Bruce, will be eyeing bargain signings this summer, after the club’s takeover fell through. Sessegnon, to that end, has emerged as a viable option for the Tyneside outfit. (h/t The Sun)

Sessegnon’s debut campaign hardly went according to plans. However, with Danny Rose likely to be offloaded permanently, we will be left with Ben Davies as the only senior left-back.

Young Dennis Cirkin is an option, but if Sessegnon hardly got any meaningful minutes under Mourinho, it is hard to imagine the teenager receive a lot of opportunities. So, the club should hold on to Sessegnon, as he has the potential to make a significant difference for us.
