Tottenham have doubts over Max Aarons
According to The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur are having second thoughts about making a move for Norwich City starlet Max Aarons, owing to concerns over his suitability in Jose Mourinho’s team.
The 20-year-old Englishman is a product of the Norwich City youth academy. Aarons played an integral role in their promotion to the Premier League in 2018/19.
Aarons failed to reach the same heights in his Premier League debut season. However, the youngster did impress in bursts, even as the Canaries ended up getting relegated back to the Championship.
Aarons managed to assist two goals in his 36 Premier League appearances in 2019/20. Over the past couple of months, the 20-year-old has been heavily linked with a switch to Tottenham.
With Kyle Walker-Peters leaving permanently and Serge Aurier linked with an exit, it is a given that a new right-back is a must for us this summer. And it has been claimed that Tottenham have identified the 20-year-old Aarons as one of the targets to bolster the right-back department this summer.
However, as per the report from The Athletic, Spurs’ boss Jose Mourinho is harbouring some concerns over launching a move for the youngster, with the Portuguese uncertain whether Aarons would fit into the style of play he wants to implement at the club.

If that is indeed the case, the club is likely to move on to explore other targets. The other names on Spurs’ reported shortlist are Turkish defender Zeki Celik and Atalanta’s Timothy Castagne.
We cannot go the entire season using makeshift right-backs such as Japhet Tanganga, if we are to move up the table. So, a new full-back is a must this summer. It, however, remains to be seen who the club decides to go after.
