Twitter reacts as Matt Doherty signs for Tottenham Hotspur
As confirmed by the club’s official site, Republic of Ireland international Matt Doherty is now a Tottenham Hotspur player.
The former Wolves star is an impressive right-back, who is among the best in his position in the English top flight. He will be an excellent addition to a Spurs side who have had to make do with the inconsistent Serge Aurier last season.
According to the report, Doherty’s contract at the club will run until 2024. He will wear the number two shirt for us.
Doherty is a reliable player has missed just seven league matches in the last four seasons. He has played 95 games in all competitions since Wolves returned to the Premier League in 2018. During this time, he has made 15 goals and 15 assists. (h/t Tottenham Hotspur)
Adding him to our roster will contribute not just to our defence but also to the attack. A marauding full-back, Doherty is a shrewd signing who could go on to make a real difference for us.
The 28-year-old is our third signing of the summer. Spurs have already brought in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Joe Hart.
