Tottenham Hotspur face competition from Italian duo for Vedat Muriqi
According to Sky Italia (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur are embroiled in a three-way tussle for Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi. Apart from us, the Serie A duo of Fiorentina and Lazio are also keen on the Kosovan international.
Muriqi scored 17 goals and made 7 assists in 36 appearances for Fenerbahce last season. (h/t Transfermarkt)
The 26-year-old is keen to take the next step in his career and move to a bigger club. Spurs can give him just the opportunity to do that.
Fenerhance are keen to create a bidding war for the ace striker. They hope to recoup as much as €20m for the Kosovan. (h/t Football.london)
Muriqi is an effective centre-forward who can hold the ball up well and bring his teammates into play. He is also a force to reckon with in the air while also being able to make through balls apart from finishing.
Bringing in another striker is important given the lack of backup to Harry Kane. The Spurs ace is at the moment, the only specialist striker in the squad.
The lack of cover was a handicap for us last season. Bringing in Muriqi will help ease the burden on Jose Mourinho to play Kane in every game. The striker has three more years left on his Fenerbahce contract. It remains to be seen if he has played his last game for the Turks.
