Tottenham Hotspur leading the race to sign Milan Skriniar
According to the Italian publication Tuttosport (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race to sign Milan Skriniar.
The Slovakian international has been a regular for Inter Milan since joining the club in 2017. He has since his reputation grow as a reliable defender in Serie A.
Skriniar has however fallen down the pecking order in the last few months. Inter are now ready to cash in on the defensive stalwart. (h/t Football.london)
The Spurs defence endured a disappointing season last time around. In light of the difficulties we had faced, it makes sense for the club to focus on defensive reinforcements.
The club is short by an option following the exit of Jan Vertonghen. With Toby Alderweireld not getting any younger and Davinson Sanchez prone to being inconsistent, it is an issue we need to address.
Skriniar is a player who is experienced at the top level. A full Slovakian international, he also has ample experience of playing in the Champions League and the Europa League.
At just 25, he has his best years ahead of him. Jose Mourinho is known for developing solid defensive players and Skriniar can only benefit from working under the Portuguese.
The report goes onto say that Inter’s interest in Tanguy Ndombele could work to our advantage. The Frenchman, who is the club’s record signing, endured a difficult debut season in England.
With Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg now at Spurs, the club do have an option if they choose to sell Ndombele. Skriniar is certainly someone we could do with. However, whether he is worth sacrificing our record signing remains to be seen.

Local rivals Chelsea are also keeping tabs on the Inter star. The Nerazzurri are keen on Blues ace N’Golo Kante.
The Frenchman is a player who manager Antonio Conte is familiar with, having worked with him at Chelsea. The London giants are also willing to part with the 29-year-old if their asking price is met.
