Ralph Hasenhuttl dismisses Danny Ings rumours amid Tottenham interest

Tottenham’s hopes of raiding Southampton for the signing of Danny Ings have been absolutely dashed, as Saints’ manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has claimed that the striker will not be leaving this summer. (h/t Express)

After a couple of injury-hit years, Ings has enjoyed a resurgence at Southampton. The England international enjoyed a brilliant 2019/20 term, scoring 22 goals in the league, finishing as the joint second-highest scorer.

Ings’ exploits have put him on the radars of Tottenham Hotspur, who are in the market for a new striker. It is no secret that the Lilywhites need cover for star forward Harry Kane. And Ings, given his form and his experience in the Premier League, would have made a fine addition to the ranks.

However, Saints’ boss Hasenhuttl has, in no uncertain terms, made it clear that Ings will not be going anywhere this summer. (h/t Express)

“The only thing I want to say about these rumours is there is absolutely zero interest from Danny to go anywhere. Any rumours about that are absolute nonsense and I think hopefully this is the last time we speak about this. He is 100 per cent happy to be here.”

These comments come after reports claimed that Tottenham have had an enquiry for the former Liverpool striker rejected already.

Ings would have been a brilliant signing for Tottenham, even though signing him was always going to be a challenge. However, with Southampton reinforcing their stance that the Englishman will not be sold, the club must look elsewhere to bolster the attack.

Going an entire season with just Kane as the only striker would, without a doubt, be a recipe for disaster.
