Leeds United among clubs keen on signing Ryan Sessegnon on loan
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, newly-promoted Premier League outfit Leeds United are one among a number of clubs interested in signing Tottenham youngster Ryan Sessegnon on loan this summer.
Sessegnon joined Tottenham Hotspur from Fulham last summer. The 20-year-old cost the club £25m in transfer fee, but endured a difficult maiden campaign at the club.
Injuries and a lack of backing from manager Jose Mourinho meant, the Englishman featured just 12 times across all competitions in 2019/20. He did manage a goal and an assist in his handful of appearances. (h/t Transfermarkt)
However, Sessegnon is yet to make a single appearance for Spurs this season. In fact, he hasn’t been part of the matchday squad for any of our Premier League games in 2020/21. Plus with the arrival of Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid, it is increasingly looking like the club is ready to loan the Englishman out for the season.
Sessegnon’s situation has seemingly put a number of clubs of on high-alert as we near the transfer deadline day, with Leeds United among those clubs. (h/t The Athletic)
The Whites have impressed since returning to the top-flight. And considering the manager’s propensity to trust youngsters and improve their games, a move to Elland Road could work out well for Sessegnon as well as Tottenham in the long run.
Apart from Leeds, Southampton, Brighton and Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin are also interested. In fact, it is claimed that the latter three clubs are pursuing his signing with more intent than the Whites. (h/t The Athletic)
